On The Road Again

On the road to Kostichovtsi -a small village in Vidin region -the beautiful home-land of my family.

The Legend

There is a legend about the creation of the village. Population of the area was straggled around in different neighborhoods, so the local Turkish Bey decided to collect them together in one village and in this way easier to collect the taxes. Legend said it was happened at the place where today Dolnokrayska fountain is situated. When they started digging, they found bones. Bulgarians exclaimed: "kosti" ("bones") but Turks shouted: "chok", meaning "many". A combination of these two words gives the name of Kostichovtsi village
